Date: April 22, 2017 Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Grow a Pumpkin for the Fair
Event Description Sorry grown-ups, this class is just for kids!

Children ages 6-12 years will spend (6) summer Saturday's growing and caring for their own veggies and flowers in the Arboretum's raised bed garden. Taught by longtime Master Gardener and retired educator Doris Sonstelie.

The class has been expanded this year to include raising flowers, vegetables, and giant pumpkins for the fair! Each 2-hour Saturday workshop features time spent tending the garden, discussion on fundamental gardening and horticultural topics such as plant life cycles, composting, soil management, seed differences, techniques of plant growth, basic botany, and fertilizing.

By the end of the summer each child should have a pumpkin, vegetables, and flowers worthy of entering in the fair.

Due to space limitations, class size is limited to just 20 children.
