Name: Hollywood and the Homefront: Tinseltown's Contributions to WWII
Date: October 29, 2019
Time: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM PDT
Event Description:
Audio historian and former broadcaster John Jensen shares rarely known stories and anecdotes from WWI in order to highlight Hollywood’s efforts to boost morale and support the troops during war. Join us to experience examples of the still-powerful images, radio broadcasts, and films that were created and used by Hollywood to educate, inform and sway American public opinion during this dramatic time in our nation’s history. This event is a part of the 2019 Yakima Valley Reads program presented by the Yakima Valley Libraries. This year's selected title is "The Only Woman in the Room" by Marie Benedict, bestselling author of "The Other Einstein" and "Carnegie's Maid."
