Pre-Employment Background Screening: What's Legal and What Isn't

Thursday, January 17, 2019 (7:30 AM - 11:00 AM) (PST)

Description

Pre-Employment Background Screening: What's Legal and What Is Not
Presented by Bryce Brewer, Pinnacle Investigations

Washington's new "ban-the-Box" bill was signed into law as The Fair Chance Act on June 7, 2018. The new law makes it illegal for public and private employers to ask job applicants about arrests or convictions until after the applicant is determined otherwise qualified. In this workshop we will dive deep into the regulatory landscape that governs pre-employment background screening. From the application to the offer, to the decision to hire; attendees will learn what they need to know to protect the rights of the applicant while protecting themselves from costly litigation.
